Our Pastor

Elder Tyrone Maurice Thomas

Biography

The spiritual growth of Tyrone Maurice Thomas began in Wayland Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend Darnel Johnson, III.  In 1990, he moved his membership to First Mount Olive Freewill Baptist Church, under the anointed leadership of Bishop Oscar E. Brown.  There Elder Thomas preached his initial sermon in November of 1994.

On October 3, 1997, Elder Thomas married his life partner, the former Michelle Antoinette Barrett.  God has blessed this loving union with two incredible daughters:  Aniya Lenae and Nia Morgan.  His family is his support and fulfills his purpose in life and ministry.

As a servant of God, Elder Thomas preaches the word of God with clarity and authority. In May of 1998, Elder Thomas humbly assumed the position of First Assistant to Bishop Oscar E.  Brown and as a result of this assignment he became a blessing to the overall ministry of the church.

Elder Thomas graduated with honors in 2002 from Morgan State University and in 2006 from the Howard School of Divinity in Washington, DC.

On December 8, 2004, Elder Thomas was unanimously voted to serve as the pastor of Charity Community Church of God. With the power of the Holy Spirit, Charity is realizing the vision God has set for this ministry and is grateful for their anointed leader who teaches, nurtures, and preaches the unadulterated Word of God.

In just fourteen years, Charity has birthed new ministries, revitalized existing ministries and increased the size of the congregation. Today, the vision of this ministry is expanding and services are being held in a new Sanctuary.

Pastor Thomas challenges believers to be firm in their faith and in their pursuit of God.  His life and his preaching have transformed lives and for this Pastor Thomas gives all honor, praise, and glory to God, the Head of his life.
